It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
